Senior Chase Luebker finished with 27 points and 14 rebounds coming back from an ankle injury but the Plum City boys basketball team lost 64-55 to Gilmanton Monday in Plum City.

Senior Chad Fox scored 14 points and senior Lawton Radle added four and four assists for the Blue Devils.

Brady Serum led Gilmanton with 22 points, Josh Hallock tallied 15 points and Zack Urness contributed 10 points in the win.

Plum City (6-10, 5-9 Dunn-St. Croix) trailed 36-23 at halftime but the Blue Devils pulled within two points in the second quarter before a questionable block shifted the momentum back to Gilmanton.

“It was a key moment in the game,” Plum City head coach Zach Watkins said.

The Blue Devils shot 38 percent from the field but just 21 percent from beyond the 3-point line. Plum City took too many 3-pointers early in offensive possessions, Watkins said.

Gilmanton made 11 of 16 free throws and finished with 12 turnovers. The Blue Devils committed eight turnovers and were 7-for-13 from the free-throw line.

Plum City plays Elk Mound tomorrow in Plum City in an opportunity to play spoiler against the conference leaders and set up a better seeding for playoffs, Watkins said.
