Boot hockey
The annual Nibbe/Exner boot hockey tournament will be March 2-3 at the Prairie Island and Bergwall arenas. Teams are four-on-four plus a goalie. Cost is $20 per player. There will be separate men’s and women’s brackets. All players must wear helmets.
Proceeds from the tourney are donated to the Mike Nibbe/Harry Exner scholarship fund. Registration deadline is Feb 20. Register with Bob Kubes at Musty Barnhart Insurance. For information, contact Kubes at 651-301-9340 or Jason Damman at 651-301-9002.
Lifeguard class
Participants must be at least 15 years old to take the lifeguard class. They will become a certified Red Cross lifeguard and certified in CPR for the professional rescuer and first aid. Cost is $190.
Participants must pass swimming requirements. The class will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 19 and 20 at the YMCA.
Cheerleading clinic
Coach Aiza Albers and the Winger cheerleaders will lead their annual cheer clinic for grades K–5 Feb. 22 and 23 at the high school Courtyard Café. The group will cheer during halftime of the boys’ basketball game Feb. 24. The clinic will run 5:30 to 7 p.m. and the cost is $25. Each participant will receive a T-shirt. Register by Feb. 14.
Grades 5-7
Cross-country ski/snowshoe day for grades 5-7 will be 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday Feb. 17, an early-release day. Held on the Twin Bluff Middle School grounds, the event offers outdoor fun, hot chocolate and snacks. The event is free, but students must register with Community Recreation by Feb 10.
Wear your winter clothing. The event is co-sponsored by the Chemical Health Initiative of Red Wing and the Environmental Learning Center.
