Two people were arrested after an aggravated robbery in Red Wing Tuesday evening.

Curtis Eugene Venzant, 30, and Jennifer Nicole Staten, 32, both of 616 ½ Centennial St., are being held in Goodhue County Jail.

Venzant faces first-degree aggravated robbery, second-degree aggravated robbery, second-degree assault, terroristic threats and interfering with a 911 call charges, according to jail records. Staten faces a second-degree aggravated robbery charge.

Red Wing Police were dispatched to the Parkway Motel, 3425 Highway 61, at 6:02 p.m. after a 36-year-old male reported he was being robbed.

The victim told police that a knife had been held to his throat and money was demanded from him. It’s not clear whether he gave the assailants any money, police said.

Because the incident is under investigation, police would not identify the victim. They did say he is not from Red Wing, but is a Minnesota resident.

Both Venzant and Staten were arrested at the scene. The victim didn’t appear to be injured, police said.

The Goodhue County Attorney’s Office is expected to file formal charges today or tomorrow.
