Cheerleading clinic
Coach Aiza Albers and the Winger cheerleaders will lead their annual cheer clinic for grades K–5 Feb 22 and 23 at the high school Courtyard Café. The group will cheer during halftime of the boys’ basketball game Feb. 24. The clinic will run 5:30 to 7 p.m. and the cost is $25. Each participant will receive a T-shirt. Register by Feb. 14.
Girls on the Run
There will be a kickoff event at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 31 for those interested in learning about the Girls on the Run and Girls on Track programs. A light supper will be served at the Burnside School caféteria. Parents and participants are invited. The program is for girls in grades 3–7. They will incorporate geat life lessons with a running program to become a healthy, confident adult. The program will begin in March.
Senior basketball
Open recreational basketball for those 35 and older is held 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays at Burnside Elementary School. Teams are formed each evening. Cost is $12. A new session begins Feb 2. There will be no play held March 1, 15 and April 5.
Hall walking
The Red Wing public schools are open before and after school for walking. All participants must register at the Community Rec office. You will receive an ID badge that must be worn while in the buildings. Walking hours vary by school and the schools are not open during non-school days including weather related closures. Cost is $5. The last day for walking in the schools is May 11.
