Sophomore Charlie Raethke led the Eagles (2-7, 2-3 Dairyland-Small) with 15 points. He also had nine rebounds and six blocks. Sophomore John Nuzum scored 10 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. Junior Cole Carroll had 11 points and five assists while senior Jacob Lerum added 14 points.

Pepin-Alma led 29-23 at halftime and struggled to put Independence away, Eagles’ head coach Loren Mueller said.
“They hung in the game , they had their runs,” he said. “It hung around double figures for most of the second half. At half it was still in doubt. We hadn’t quite put them away until right at the end.”
Pepin-Alma made three 3-pointers and shot 10-for-18 from the free-throw line.
“We just played a good all-around game,” Mueller said.
The Eagles host Lincoln Friday in Alma.
