Goodhue senior Jake Staehli hit two free throws with .7 seconds left in the game to wrap up a 50-48 victory over Kenyon-Wanamingo Friday in Goodhue.
Staehli finished with a team-high 19 points while Tyson Dicke and Michael McNamara added 12 points each for the Wildcats (7-2, 1-1 HVL) who won for the fifth time in six games.
The Knights kept it close throughout with 3-point shooting. Kenyon-Wanamingo hit eight of them for the game and was led by Jeremy Patton, who scored 15 points.
“It kinda felt like no lead was ever safe,” Goodhue head coach Tony Poncelet said.
The Wildcats shot 46 percent from the field and knocked down free throws down the stretch, hitting 11 of 18 for the game.
