Wingers get another OT victory

It was another overtime game Wednesday for the Red Wing girls hockey team and another win as the Wingers beat Robbinsdale Armstrong/Cooper 3-2 in overtime in New Hope.

It was another overtime game Wednesday for the Red Wing girls hockey team and another win as the Wingers beat Robbinsdale Armstrong/Cooper 3-2 in overtime in New Hope.

Paige Haley scored the game-winner at 1 minute, 57 seconds in overtime to send Red Wing to the tournament championship game against Champlin Park.

Nicole Schammel, who ranks ninth in the state in goals with 23, scored twice in the second period to give the Wingers (10-3-1) a 2-0 lead that held up until the third period.

Alyssa Burke scored a power-play goal at 10:20 of the third period to tie the game and force overtime.

Schammel scored a shorthanded goal nine seconds into the second period and later added a power-play goal.
