Former Cannon Falls standout runner Kyle Blakeslee helped guide the Augustana cross-country team to a Division-II national championship Nov. 19 at Spokane, Wash.
Blakeslee finished 18th overall for the Vikings, who scored 75 points at the meet and beat out Western State by four points for the school’s second national title. It’s the first national championship for the cross-country program.
Blakeslee, a junior, finished the 6,000 meter race in 21 minutes, 53.30 seconds while teammate Leah Hansen paced the team with a 12th-place finish. Runa Falch finished 13th and Kristin Brondbo 15th for Augustana.
With her finish Blakeslee also earned All-American honors for the first time in her cross-country career.
