Leitner wins Nike Cross Nationals regional meet

Red Wing senior Christian Leitner recently won the Nike Cross Nationals Heartland Regional meet in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Leitner finished the 5-kilometer course in 16 minutes, 25.69 seconds Nov. 13 among a field of 205 runners.

Leitner finished almost two seconds faster than Steven Schimmel, who finished second.

Leitner sat in fifth place after the first mile and moved into third place after the second mile before finishing with the win.

Red Wing junior Kelsee Anderson and sophomore Lindsay Scribner competed in the girls open division where Anderson placed 11th overall and Scribner took 25th.

Anderson finished the race in 20:07.52 and Scribner finished in 20:48.34.
