Trost repeats as conference champ

Cannon Falls sophomore Emi Trost repeated as Hiawatha Valley League champion Wednesday at Pine Creek Golf Course in La Crescent.

Cannon Falls sophomore Emi Trost repeated as Hiawatha Valley League champion Wednesday at Pine Creek Golf Course in La Crescent.

Trost completed the 4-kilometer course in 15 minutes, 2 seconds and won the race by 36 seconds.

Eighth-graders Katherine Hoffman and Emma Thomley improved their times by 30 seconds to finish 18th and 19th, respectively, to earn all-conference. Hoffman and Thomley both finished in 17:01.

Amber Edwards finished 47th in 18:29 and Ashleigh Dralle took 53rd in 18:51 as the Bombers finished fifth with 138 points.

La Crescent won the meet with 32 points. Lourdes took second with 59, Lake City finished third with 81 points, Stewartville placed fourth with 119 and Zumbrota-Mazeppa/Kenyon-Wanamingo finished sixth with 179 points.

Lydia Taylor led the Tigers with an eighth-place finish and a time of 16:28. Hannah Alitz finished 13th in 16:49, Madi Dwelle took 16th in 16:51, Becca Goertzen took 17th in 16:54 and Alexis Befort finished 27th in 17:24.

Emily Karl took 15th in 16:51 to lead Z-M/K-W. Aubrie Ades took 34th in 17:40, Maddie Patterson took 35th in 17:41, Jessica Thompson finished 46th in 18:29, and Callie Ryan took 49th in 18:37.

Lake City’s Dammann takes second at HVL boys meet in La Crescent

Lake City’s Carston Dammann finished second in the 5-kilometer boys race as the Tigers finished fifth overall with 123 points.

Dammann finished the race in 17:09 — five seconds behind Cotter’s Matt Schrupp.

Sergey Duchelle took 13th in 18:24 for Lake City. Chris Breuer finished 26th in 18:48, Colin Fritz took 40th in 19:30, and Carl Kozlowski took 42nd in 19:41.

Cotter won the boys meet with 37 points, La Crescent finished second with 74, Bryon took third with 81, Z-M/K-W finished fourth with 103, and Cannon Falls finished ninth with 258 points.

Nathan Warneke finished third overall for Z-M/K-W in 17:26. James Drettwan took 12th in 18:23, Ben Nystuen finished 23rd in 18:41, Mitchel Lexvold took 24th in 18:45, and Micah Grove finished 41st in 19:33.

Bjorn Pearson took 46th in 20:46 to lead the Bombers. Karl Ritzman took 50th in 20:33, Tyler Wilson finished 51st in 20:37, Connor Bennett took 54th in 20:55, and Jordan Erlanson took 57th in 21:08.
