Teen dies in one-vehicle crash

An Ellsworth teen died Sunday after a one-vehicle crash in Salem Township, Wis., the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department reported.

An Ellsworth teen died Sunday after a one-vehicle crash in Salem Township, Wis., the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Blake Flanigan, 16, was traveling southbound on County Highway A near 385th St. when his vehicle left the roadway on a curve and entered the west ditch.

The vehicle then reentered the road, crossed over the northbound lane, entered the east ditch, went down an embankment and overturned into the Rush River.

A passerby found the vehicle on its roof in the water just before 3:30 p.m. The vehicle was pulled upright by rescue units. Flanigan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.

The Ellsworth Area Fire and Paramedics, Maiden Rock/Plum City/Stockholm Area Ambulance and the DNR Warden assisted at the scene.
