The Ellsworth boys cross-country ran to a team victory Saturday at the Holte Invitational in Arcadia, Wis. with two runners placing in the top 10.
The Panthers won the large school and overall meet as senior Matt Priest finished second and senior Ike Taplin finished seventh. Ellsworth scored 62 points to win the large-school meet and 81 to win the overall meet, which was split into two divisions.
Priest ran the 5-kilometer course in 17 minutes, 23.8 seconds and finished behind Prescott’s Cole Hauenstein, who won the race in 17:09.9. Taplin finished in 18:03 and senior Jaylen Pavloski placed 11th in 18:10.2. Tyler Marson finished 31st in 19:11.2 and Sam Mahaffey took 36th in 19:20.6.
Girls take sixth
The girls team finished sixth with 130 points in the large-school meet and sixth overall with 161 points.
Kennedy Kowalchyk finished 21st in 17:39, Cassie Lofgren 27th in 17:50, Becca Matzek 30th in 17:59, Payton Bjorkman 52nd in 18:58, Kelsey Betthauser 55th in 19:03.
