The Red Wing girls soccer team couldn’t keep up with Shakopee Tuesday in a 3-0 loss in Shakopee.
Gracie Vaughan scored for the Sabers (8-4-3, 4-0 Missota) in the 25th minute and Roxanne Roemer added a goal in the 32nd minute to make it 2-0.
“I think we got caught off guard with their speed,” Wingers head coach Dusty Beckman said.
Red Wing (3-9, 1-4 Missota) had a chance to get back in the game when senior Kaitlin Bischoff had a shot clang off the crossbar in a 2-0 game.
Shakopee extended the lead in the 53rd minute when Cara Zastrow headed home a goal to make it 3-0.
Sierra Furlong made 17 saves for the Wingers. Red Wing had eight shots on goal and Beckman said the attack looked dangerous at times.
“We actually had a lot of good attempts,” Beckman said.
