Wingers win 10 events at New Prague

The Red Wing girls swimming and diving team picked up a 105-70 victory last Thursday over New Prague in New Prague.
The Wingers won 10 events and had 1-2-3 finishes in three events.
Red Wing had a 1-2-3 finish in the 200-yard individual medley with senior Abby Schnaith taking first in 2 minutes, 19.39 seconds. Junior Dani Peterson took second in 2:36.78 and sophomore Meredith Olson finished third in 2:45.26.
The Wingers also had a 1-2-3 finish in the 50 freestyle. Eighth-grader Ingrid Olson took first in 27.3, sophomore Hannah Walch took second in 28.4 and sophomore Ashley Thompson finished third in 28.42.
Schnaith won the 100 freestyle in 55.02. Olson placed second in 1:00.92 and sophomore Abby Sekus took third in 1:07.06.
The final three event scores were excluded from Red Wing’s point total, but the Wingers won the 100 backstroke, the 100 breaststroke and the 400 freestyle relay.
Red Wing junior Abby Riegelman won the 100 backstroke in 1:13.7. Senior Melissa Goranowski won the 100 breaststroke in 1:21.38 and the 400 freestyle relay team of Meredith Olson, Ingrid Olson, freshman Emily Nagel and Hannah Kolsky won in 4:23.78 in an exhibition race.
The Wingers opened the meet with four consecutive wins. Junior Sydney Steger, Goranowski, Walch and Schnaith won the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:05.15. Junior Amy Nemanich won the 200 freestyle in 2:13.69. Riegelman took second in 2:18.66 and Hannah Kolsky took third in 2:20.38.
Nemanich also won the 500 freestyle in 5:52.43 and Peterson took second in 6:11.44.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Schnaith, Riegelman, Thompson and Walch won in 1:51.28. Eighth-grader Hannah Kolsky, sophomore Hailey Kuhl, Meredith Olson and junior Taylor Reny took second in 2:00.3.
Sophomore Lydia Miller and junior Jess Kolsky took second and third, respectively in 1-meter diving.
