The Lake City boys soccer team has started games quickly this season, but sustaining it has been a different story.

The Tigers (2-8, 1-2) scored first against Red Wing Saturday at their home tournament, but it turned into an 8-1 loss. Against Schaeffer Academy Thursday Lake City again grabbed an early lead only watch it disappear in a 5-2 loss in Rochester.

Elijah Kroll scored in the first minute of the game for the Tigers but Schaeffer Academy responded with four goals to close out the first half.

Spencer Moir scored three times and Nate Hanson added two goals for Schaeffer Academy. Moir had a hat trick by halftime and Hanson added a goal with five minutes left in the game.

Lake City junior Brandyn Oliver cut it to 4-2 with a goal that came with 10 minutes left in the game, but that was as close as the Tigers got.

“We played pretty well to start with and they found a couple of holes in our defense,” Lake City head coach Paul Oliver said.

Lake City faces Faribault Saturday in Lake City.
