The Lake City boys soccer team lost to Stewartville 3-2 Tuesday in Lake City.

“It was a close match,” Lake City coach Paul Oliver said. “Pretty physical game played evenly throughout the game. We just came up on the short end of the stick tonight.”

It was the second time in as many games that the Tigers succumbed to Stewartville. Lake City fell 6-1 to Stewartville Saturday in Lake City.

Lake City (2-7, 1-2 HVL) got its first goal Tuesday from sophomore Elijah Kroll 10 minutes before halftime. The Tigers second goal came on a penalty kick by junior Brandyn Oliver 20 minutes into the second half.

Oliver led the team with five shots. Lake City goalie Kyle Kaufman made 10 saves.

Oliver was pleased with his team’s performance considering it has played three games in four days.

“Some people are banged up a little,” Oliver said. “Guys are sore and playing through it.”

The Tigers play again Thursday at Schaeffer Academy in Rochester.
