Bombers tennis sweeps Stewartville

The Cannon Falls girls tennis team got back on track against Stewartville Tuesday with a 7-0 victory.

The Cannon Falls girls tennis team got back on track against Stewartville Tuesday with a 7-0 victory.

The Bombers (13-5, 4-1 HVL) had lost four of their last five matches before the win against the Tigers.

“It was a good match,” Cannon Falls coach Paul Norstad said. “We played very well and consistent. We played really good tennis.”

No. 1 singles player, senior Ashley Banitt, defeated Elizabeth Bardwell 7-5, 6-3 and Megan Ripley beat Whitney Erickson 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. The Bombers’ No. 1 doubles team of Erica Zimmerman and Kayla Anderson rolled 6-1, 6-0 against Shelby Snipes and Katie Scruggs.

Cannon Falls competes again Thursday at Lake City.
