Red Wing School Board briefs
From the meeting of Sept. 19, 2011.
Mileage rates raised to federal business rates
School employees will now receive 55.5 cents for every mile they drive. The increase was approved Monday night to match the federal business rate, which is standard procedure for the district.
The federal business rate rose to 55.5 cents from 51 cents as of July 1. In the past, every time the federal rate changed, the board had to approve a motion to have the district’s rate match it.
On Monday, board voted 7-0 not only to have the district rate raised to match the federal rate, but also to have the district’s rate automatically follow and match the federal rate.

The board approved the following personnel changes at Monday’s board meeting:

Medical leave: Sally Martin, math teacher at the high school, effective Oct. 27 through Dec. 2.
