Lake City junior Carston Damman finished second overall Tuesday at the Dover-Eyota/St. Charles Invitational as the Tigers took third place as a team.
Damman finished the 5-kilometer race in 17 minutes, 4 seconds and the team finished with 112 points, trailing just Plainview-Elgin-Millville, which won the meet with 31 points and had six of its runners in the top 12. P-E-M’s seventh runner took 17th. DESC took second with 68 points.
Senior Chris Breuer took 21st with a time of 18:51 and teammate Sergey Duchelle followed him in 22nd place with a time of 18:53. Freshman Colin Fritz placed 30th with a time of 19:36 and junior Jordan Hyland completed the top five with a 39th-place finish and a time of 20:08.
The Lake City girls team finished fourth with 132 points in the 4-kilometer race.
DESC won the meet with 19 points and placed all seven runners in the top 11, including grabbing the top three spots. Stewartville took second with 77 points and P-E-M placed third with 82 points.
Junior Alexis Befort finished 18th overall to lead the Tigers and had a time of 17:41. Freshman Rebecca Goertzen followed in 21st place in 17:45. Freshman Hannah Alitz took 31st in 18:19, freshman Lydia Taylor finished 36th in 18:29 and junior Taylor Siewart placed 39th in 18:45.
Lake City hosts its invitational Tuesday in Lake City.
