Byron found its offense early on Tuesday against the Lake City boys soccer team and rolled to a 5-1 victory in Byron.
“We struggled to get any offense together,” Lake City coach Paul Oliver said. “They were more physical and a faster team than us. We really struggled on both the offensive and defensive ends. They shut us down after the first goal.”
Byron struck first three minutes into the match but Lake City’s Brandyn Oliver found the back of the net for the Tigers (2-4, 1-2 HVL) lone goal two minutes later, tying the score at one.
Byron’s Kameron Coe added two goals before halftime and Nathan Kitzmann put in another to give the Bears a 4-1 lead at the break.
Byron scored once more before the final horn.
Lake City faces Red Wing Saturday in the first round of the Lake City Invitational.
