The Red Wing girls cross country team finished 10th Friday at the Rolf Melby Invitational at St. Olaf in Northfield.
Junior Kelsee Anderson led the Wingers with a ninth-place finish. Anderson finished the 4-kilometer race in 15 minutes, 56 seconds. Sophomore Lindsay Scribner took 59th with a time of 17:12. Senior Cori Fairbanks followed at 67 with a time of 17:22, Shayna Ramstad took 76th with a time of 17:39 and Elise Leise placed 91st in a time of 17:56.
“It wasn’t by any means our best meet,” Red Wing head coach Jesse Nelson said.
The Wingers faced many of their section and conference foes at the meet. Roseville won the meet with 77 points. East Ridge placed second and Shakopee took third.
Red Wing boys take 15th
The meet left the Red Wing boys team continuing to search for some consistency with its top five after a 15th-place finish.
The top five has changed at each meet this season for the Wingers.
Senior Christian Leitner finished 16th overall with a time of 17:22 in the 5-kilometer race. Sophomore Aiden Winn finished 76th in 18:37. Senior Jordy Hassmer placed 86th with a time of 18:48. Freshman Philip Mitchell took 94th in a time of 18:57 and senior Trent Vanloon took 95th in 19:02.
“We had a great week of work and it’s all building toward the middle of October,” Nelson said.
Red Wing heads to Hastings Thursday for its next meet.
