At about 8:50 a.m. Monday a white Oldsmobile Alero crossed a lane of traffic and ended up in the woods near Pioneer Road in Red Wing.

The Alero — driven by an unidentified female — was southbound on County Road 1 when it veered across the northbound lane, down the hill and into the trees just before reaching Pioneer Road.

UPS driver Calvin Radtke, who was driving north on County Road 1, said he turned out of the way to avoid colliding with the Alero, and saw it go into the woods in his rear view mirror.

“At first I thought she was merging off to the side but then I saw she wasn’t slowing down,” Radtke said, describing the female as young.

The Red Wing police said the accident appeared to be caused by a “medical-related issue.”

The State Patrol, Red Wing ambulance and Red Wing Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The accident is under investigation.
