Three Goodhue students recently participated in Students Taking Action with Recognition events at Family, Career and Community Leaders of America's 2011 National Leadership Conference.

Ethan Dressen and Tiffanie Anderson received a silver medal in the National Programs in Action Category. Sydney McNamara earned a gold medal in Chapter Showcase Display. Medals were presented July 14 in Anaheim, Calif. All three students will be freshman this coming school year.

At the FCCLA event, students choose an in-depth project to work on. Dressen and Anderson chose Families First as their program, and held a Caring for Kids Day last December. Chapter Showcase Display is an event in which the member illustrates, in the form of a display, the program of work carried out by the chapter. Both events require an oral presentation.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a national student organization that helps young adults become leaders and address important personal, family, work and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education.
