Mudhens starter Luke Rasmussen wasn’t sharp and Miesville left runners on base in the middle innings, but the Mudhens did enough to win at home Sunday.
Rasmussen lasted eight innings and allowed an earned run on nine hits. He struck out four and walked three.
“Rasmussen didn’t have his best stuff or his command, but he was effectively wild,” Mudhens player/manager Matt Van Der Bosch said.
Miesville scored two in the first and appeared primed to add to that lead in both the fourth and fifth innings. Sam Ryan led off the fourth with a triple, but he was stranded. The Mudhens loaded the bases with one out their next time up; however, they failed to score.
“We kind of shot ourselves in the foot,” Van Der Bosch said.
The Mudhens added three runs in the eighth. Van Der Bosch got things going by leading off the inning with a home run.
Miesville (13-9 overall, 8-4 Classic Cannon Valley League) plays host to Hampton on Tuesday in a makeup game.
