The Bombers dropped a back-and-forth home game Sunday to one of the best teams in the St. Croix Valley League, according to Bay City player/manager Tony Schultz.
Trailing 11-6, the Bombers attempted a comeback in the eighth. They scored three runs and had runners on second and third with one out; however, Greg Cheever got Blake Schammel to hit into a fielder's choice and closer Ryan Gilbertson induced a grounder to third off the bat of Dan Roschen to end the threat.
Roschen and Jordan Eggenberger each had four hits for the Bombers with Roschen driving in four.
Justin Lance suffered the loss in relief. He allowed six runs (four earned) over four innings.
Bay City (2-5 overall, 1-5 league) is off until Saturday when it plays host to Elmwood.
