Billy Coakley has pitched well for the Bears this season, but he ran into trouble in the first inning Wednesday at John Burch Park. Prescott scored five times in the opening frame and cruised to victory.

“It was a combination of him trying to find the strike zone, early on it was a tight zone, (and) they had a couple good hitters who pounded the ball when he left it up,” Cannon Falls left fielder Shane Hedeen said.

Alex Ross led the way for the Pirates at the plate. He finished 3-for-6 with a double and an RBI in the two-hole.

Coakley remained in the game for four innings, allowed one run after the first and suffered the loss. Coakley gave up four earned runs and six hits. He walked four while striking out two.

Cannon Falls, which managed just five hits, has another home game Friday when the Minneapolis Angels come to town.
