Red Wing scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh and it never relinquished the lead as it beat River Falls 6-5 Wednesday at the Athletic Field.

The Aces trailed 4-0 when they came to bat in the seventh.

“The bats were pretty silent to start. It didn’t seem like we had a lot of energy,” Aces player/assistant manager Andy Gibart said. “We found a way in the seventh to put it all together.”

Steve Boldt and Jake Laffey both collected two hits and scored a run for Red Wing. One of Boldt’s hits was a double and he drove in a pair while Laffey collected one RBI.

Tyler Goering pitched the first five innings for the Aces and gave up two runs, but reliever Dustin LaRue earned the win by pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Aaron Johnson threw the final 1 2/3 innings to register the save.

The Aces improved to 7-1 with the win. They’re back in action Friday when they play host to the St. Paul Capitals on Youth Baseball Night.
