Pepin already had the Dunn-St. Croix Conference title locked up before Monday's disappointing home loss to Spring Valley/Plum City, but that didn't make it sting any less.

"(It was the) worst game that we could have possibly played," Pepin coach Matt Bellerive said.

The Lakers managed just three hits off of Rachel Samdahl.

"She was by far the best pitcher we faced all year, but that wasn't the deal," Bellerive said. "The deal was our seven errors."

Spring Valley/Plum City tallied just one hit and all three of its runs were unearned.

Pepin, which won its 14th conference title in school history, is a top seed in the Division 4 regional tournament and will play its first game May 31. It will face either No. 4 Independence/Gilmanton of No. 5 Alma.
