Subscriber Exclusive: Pepin grad quietly excels

PEPIN -- Cody Raethke doesn't say much.

"He's pretty quiet," football coach and math teacher Mike Olson said of the Pepin High School graduate.

"He's very reserved," technology teacher Margie Collett said.

The school's secretary even referred to him as "the quiet one."

But Raethke, class of 2011 valedictorian, has been calmly excelling, juggling advanced classes, football, baseball and a part-time job at the Harbor View Café.
