The Tigers' comeback attempt in the bottom of the seventh Tuesday was cut short by a call by the home plate umpire, according to Lake City coach Katie Luhmann.
Amy Dudley was called out at home plate.
Dudley was trying to score from second on Marissa McCormick's single. The Tigers would have been down a run with two runners on had Dudley been called safe.
McCormick finished 3-for-4 with a triple.
Teammate Heather Marking also collected three hits and drove in a run.
Alexa Blair suffered the loss. She pitched all seven innings and gave up just one earned run. The Tigers made five errors in the field.
Lake City (3-15 overall, 1-13 Hiawatha Valley League) has its home invitational Saturday. The Tigers play St. Croix Lutheran in their first game at 10 a.m.
