The score was tied at 3 after five innings, but the Cardinals erupted for 10 run in the sixth and prevailed Monday in Pepin.

The Lakers walked five batters and committed two of their four errors in the sixth.

Spring Valley helped its cause by stealing eight bases during the game.

"That's something we need to work on," Pepin coach Eric Bjork said. "We need to work on holding them a little tighter and the catcher needs to be quicker."

Adam Baader was tagged with the loss. He walked seven batters and struck out nine in five-plus innings. Spring Valley scored five runs off of him.

Pepin (4-8 overall, 4-6 Dunn-St. Croix Conference) travels Tuesday to Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran.
