With the Plum City seniors and their coach on a class trip to Washington D.C., the Elmwood-Plum City girls took second place at the Colfax meet Tuesday while the boys took fifth.

Plum City's Jordyn Mark leaped 36 feet, 6 inches to win the triple jump. Sarah Gilles and Marah Boyer, both of Plum City, helped the 4x200-meter relay team take first with a time of 1 minute, 52.7 seconds.

The field trip hindered the boys much more than the girls.

Seniors Alex Gilles, Lance Von Holtum and Tyler Churchill all missed the event while just one Plum City girl went on the trip.

The boys scored 57.5 points in the 13-team meet and didn't have a first-place finisher.

Plum City's Chase Lanz took second in the 300 hurdles (44.8).

The seniors and coach will be back for the Dunn-St. Croix Conference meet Tuesday.
