Area sports: Rain forces four events to be called off

Cold, wet weather caused the postponement or cancellation of a few contests involving area teams Saturday.

The Hiawatha Valley League track and field conference championship was postponed. It was pushed back to Monday and will now start at 12:30 p.m. in Hayfield, Minn.

The Red Wing boys tennis team was scheduled to play in the Pine City tournament, but the event was canceled and it will not be made up.

St. Paul Highland Park was slated to play host to the Ellsworth baseball team, but the game was rained out.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa was scheduled to play a pair of games at the North St. Paul softball tournament, but the event was canceled for a second time this season.
