Lydia Franken held the Wildcats to just one hit Friday in Goodhue. The freshman struck out eight and walked five.

"It was kind of a must-win for us," Cannon Falls coach Anthony Flemmons said. "We're still trying to salvage a season and get a decent seed."

Megan Ripley, Kaci Vandenheuvel and Kayla Anderson each notched two hits for the Bombers (4-5).

"Everybody was kind of loose," Flemmons said. "They were confident and comfortable with what they needed to do."

Laurie Pearson had Goodhue's lone hit.

The Bombers will host a doubleheader against Lake City on Tuesday.
