Goodhue coach Chris Irvin said his team played its best game of the year Thursday. He also said Anne Lodermeier pitched her second-best game all year. However, one mistake cost the Wildcats a win at Triton.
Skyler Hortop smacked a grand slam in the fifth inning for Triton. Prior to that inning, Goodhue was leading 2-0.
All five of Triton's runs were unearned.
Goodhue's Ashlyn Stecklein went 2-for-2 and reached base in all four plate appearances (two walks). Teammate Meta Stern also notched two hits.
Goodhue (1-7 overall and Hiawatha Valley League) plays host to Cannon Falls and Randolph on Friday.
