Chaska and Chanhassen welcomed themselves to the Missota Conference by finishing first and second, respectively, in the opening conference meet of the year.
Chaska shot a 308 at Fountain Valley Golf Club in Farmington while Chanhassen carded a 314.
"I thought that the two new schools in the conference were going to be pretty tough, and they were," Red Wing coach Todd Petterson said.
The Wingers came in sixth place out of eight schools by shooting a 328.
"We're not far away form competing with the top schools," Petterson said.
Alan Wedrickas carded Red Wing's lowest score on the par-72 course. He shot an 80. Matthew Petterson shot an 82 while Blake Westerberg and Ross Elford each shot an 83. Luke Munson (87) and Tanner Borgen (88) also played for Red Wing.
The Wingers will travel to Rochester Lourdes on Thursday.
