To the Editor:
We live in an amazing community. On Saturday, more than 100 volunteers turned out to “Keep the Y Dry,” filling and placing sandbags and building a 45-foot flood wall. Pictures are posted on the Y website, so take a look at the work of our community to protect this community resource.
A big thank you to Red Wing High School athletic teams, the Sentence to Serve crew, the Y’s Men and Women, many Y members, board members, trustees and the whole town of Red Wing. Once again we demonstrate that this town and this YMCA solve our own problems — we grow as individuals and knit ourselves together as community every time we do a project like this.
Through these efforts, our Y will continue to serve youth through our after-school programs, lessons and classes and adults by providing programs, classes, space and equipment to promote healthy lifestyles.
Thank you to our amazing friends and neighbors. If you have never been to the Y, stop by and ask for a tour. The Y belongs to our whole community.
