Area notebook: Bohmbach displays offense in ECHL

After 62 games, Andy Bohmbach leads the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye with 68 points. The Hudson, Wis., native has scored 25 goals and tallied 43 assists. He also registered an assist in the 2011 ECHL All-Star game. Bohmbach is the son of Red Wing High School baseball coach Jim Bohmbach and the brother of Red Wing Aces player/manager Jimmy Bohmbach.

Toledo, which is dually affiliated with the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks, plays its final regular season game tonight at Wheeling.

• Lake City’s Joe Beck helped lead the Rochester Community and Technical College men’s basketball team to a second-place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III tournament. The 6-foot-8 freshman averaged 12.1 points and 10.1 rebounds in 33 contests.

• Nicole Anderson, a Cannon Falls native, started all 26 games for the St. Could State women’s basketball team. The sophomore averaged 7.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

• Lake City’s Maranda Dohrn was one of three members of the Wisconsin-River Falls women’s basketball team to be named to the All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team.

Dohrn started all 27 games, averaging 9.7 points and 9.0 rebounds.

• Cannon Falls native Alex Montgomery averaged 3.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in 18 games with the Drake women’s basketball team. The Bulldogs finished .500 overall in the Missouri Valley Conference play.

• Amanda Daleiden, a sophomore on the UW-Stout women’s basketball team, made 30 of 87 shots (for an average of 3.5 points) in 25 games on the year. The former Plum City standout pulled down 3.2 rebounds per game.

• Just one year removed from skating with the Wingers, Patrick Noesen notched two assists for the St. John’s hockey team.

• Princeton freshman Rose Alleva played in all 31 of her team’s games and contributed four assists. The Red Wing graduate finished a plus-4 on the season.

Princeton ended the season with a 16-14-1 record. Quinnipiac ended the Tigers’ campaign by sweeping them in the best-of-three ECAC quarterfinals series.

• Red Wing native Blake Schammel has scored three goals in 15 games for the Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League. Schammel was traded from the Fairbanks Ice Dogs to the Bobcats before the NAHL trade deadline in February.

Schammel, who began the season with the Owatonna Express, has totaled seven goals and five assists in 2010-11.
