Updated: Fire breaks out in downtown Lake City
Lake City firefighters evacuated the Bronk's Wednesday evening after fire broke out in the adjacent Radio Shack.
A fire broke out at Radio Shack in Lake City Wednesdsay night, causing "substantial damage," Lake City Fire Chief Todd Hubbard said.
The blaze happened in the block near Highway 61 and Center Street. Two adjacent businesses - Bronk's Bar & Grill and Swan Jewelers - both suffered smoke damage, Hubbard said.
Fire crews were dispatched at about 7:20 p.m., after Radio Shack and Swan Jewelers had closed for the night. No one was in either business.
Bronk's Bar & Grill was evacuated; no one was injured.
Crews had the blaze contained by 9 p.m., Lake City Fire Department officials said. The Fire Hall is located nearby, which may have been a factor.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but Hubbard said a fire marshall was expected at the site Thursday to try determine the cause. More details are expected Friday.
Assisting Lake City firefighters were the Zumbro Falls Fire Department, Wabasha Fire Department, Lake City Police and Lake City Ambulance.
