Ski accident at Welch Ski Village kills one
A man died Wednesday afternoon after colliding with a post while skiing at Welch Ski and Snowboard Resort.By: Sarah Gorvin, The Republican Eagle
A man died Wednesday afternoon after colliding with a post while skiing at Welch Ski and Snowboard Resort. George Conway, 65, La Crescent, Minn., was pronounced dead at the scene. A witness said he appeared to have lost control and ran into a pole that supports the chair lift.
Welch Ski Village staff responded to the scene, along with the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office and Red Wing Ambulance. A helicopter from North Air was also called to assist. An autopsy will be performed.
