Area dance team: Bombers, Tigers and Cougars advance to state

The Cannon Falls dance team won its eighth consecutive high kick championship and its third straight jazz title Saturday at the Section 1A championships.

“I feel that one of our strong suits as a team is competing under pressure,” Bomber Dance Team coach Carrie Pommier said. “I couldn’t be more pleased.”

Lake City finished second in high kick and will also compete at state. The Tigers have advanced to the state finals in each of the past two years.

“Our goal at sections wasn’t to go to state it was to do our best performance,” Lake City coach Heather Sell said. “We’re just going to work hard this week and do our best and see what happens for next weekend.”

Zumbrota-Mazeppa, the host school, advanced to state by taking second in jazz.

The state jazz competition is Friday at the Target Center. The high kick competition is the following day.

Goodhue finished 11th in the 12 team high kick competition.
