To the Editor:
I have known Stan Nerhaugen for 33 years and worked with him for twenty-one years in the public school system. I feel confident recommending Stan to be mayor of Red Wing.
During the years I worked closely with him, I saw him as a fair, objective, and extremely competent administrator who was always willing to listen to people and try to do what was the right thing.
I also saw Stan working in the community to help make Red Wing a better place for all citizens. He served on the Sister Cities Commission and helped develop close ties with cities in Japan and China, which resulted in teacher exchange programs and business connections with Red Wing Shoe and Xcel Energy.
He also served on the city golf course and bike trails development; programs that resulted in the building of a public golf course and a system of bike trails in the city.
During my many discussions with Stan, I would say that his political philosophy is that whatever our means are, we should live within them; that you communicate with the people impacted by the program so that they know what is happening and why; and that a strong and healthy economic community will enhance the quality of life for all of the citizens of Red Wing.
If these are the leadership qualities that you would want in a mayor, then Stan Nerhaugen is your man.
