Bryant Blahnik has been wearing his Missouri apparel around for good reason: The Red Wing cross-country and track standout has verbally committed to the Big 12 school.

Blahnik said he became convinced he was making the right decision when he took his official visit to the Columbia, Mo., school in early January and met the Tigers’ distance runners.

“They were awesome and I fitted right in with them,” said Blahnik, a senior.

Blahnik, who also was considering Iowa State and South Dakota, committed to assistant coach Fred Binggeli a few days after his visit.

Blahnik finished 19th (16 minutes, 15.0 seconds) at the Class AA cross-country state meet in November. He placed 11th (4:22.13) in the 1,600-meter run and 10th (9:35.57) in the 3,200 at the Class AA state track and field championships as a junior.
