Area dance team: Bombers dominate

Cannon Falls won both the jazz and high kick competitions at the Hiawatha Valley League Conference championships Friday in Zumbrota. The Bombers have now won four straight conference kick titles. It was their third league jazz title in a row.

"We went out there and danced our best kick dance yet," Bomber Dance Team coach Carrie Pommier said. "Every week we seem to be improving."

In jazz, Cannon Falls had made several changes since its last competition in Marshall, Minn., and edged Byron for the title.

"It was very exciting to be able to take first because they're a very good jazz program," Pommier said.

Lake City took second in kick. Zumbrota-Mazeppa placed fifth and Goodhue came in seventh in the eight-team field. In jazz, Z-M placed third out of four teams.
