Letter: Rhetoric has gotten out of hand

To the Editor:
I am appalled at the rhetoric being leveled against conservatives, both in and out of Washington. The left continues to get it wrong, and people like Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh keep on being correct in their predictions.
Since it is the thing to do these days, I place the blame for many of our ills, particularly the economy, on the radical environmentalists, whose every whim seems to get cooperation from the government.
Ethanol was the environmental answer some years back, and now the
same people are saying that it causes more harm than those “terrible cars.”
And then there’s political correctness. It has now deteriorated to the point where any negative statement (from right wingers) is being labeled as hate speech. What ever happened to freedom of speech?
So nothing has changed since the beginning of our country.
I am reading a book about our first president. Lies, misrepresentations were the order of the day then also. But George Washington survived and endured those slurs, facing them with truth and our Constitution.
Today we have politicians who care not for our Constitution, and practically ignored the recent reading of that document while consulting their Blackberries and other devices.
