A strong performance from Red Wing’s Irina Anderson -- who has been bothered by a foot injury -- helped the Wingers take seventh out of 12 teams Saturday at the River Falls Invitational.
The Wingers scored 118.725 points while the host school won the event with 140.375.
“We’re making slow progress,” Red Wing coach Beth Mayer said.
Anderson took third in the vault with an 8.9. She also was Red Wing’s top finisher in the uneven bars: She scored a 7.6 and took 16th place out of 60 competitors. Anderson took 15th out of 31 gymnasts in the all-around competition, scoring a 30.4.
“(I’m) very excited for her,” Mayer said.
Freshman Carlie Sandstrom took 14th out of 60 in the balance beam with a 7.6 while Jordan Munson took 25th in the floor exercise. The eighth-grader scored a 7.7.
Red Wing will play host to conference foe Northfield on Tuesday.
