School notes: St. Joseph’s school

Happenings at St. Joseph Catholic School include:

St. Joseph’s school

Preschool

Students will be doing activities all about gingerbread. At the end of the week, they will make and decorate gingerbread cookies. They are also learning about the letter “H” and having Hat Day.

Kindergarten

Students are learning about vowels, consonants, the “-an” family, shapes, and the Christmas and Advent seasons. They are also busy making some Christmas crafts!

Grade 1

The first-graders completed their winter service project on Thursday. The students did extra chores around home to earn the money to purchase fleece material to be made into blankets for the Ronald McDonald house in Rochester. They earned enough money to make 21 blankets. Several parents helped prep the material so that it was ready to be made into blankets. The students did the final step of tying the material to make them to blankets.

Grade 2

Students learned to regroup when adding in math. They will also be learning about the seven continents.

Grades 3, 4

Mrs. Runquist’s class is starting to make books on a state in the southeast region. They will research to find facts about their state like the capital, state flower, bird, tree and some facts about agriculture.

Computer class

In computer class this week we will talk about weather around the United States and visit www. weather.com.
