Maria Furlong received season-best scores in three of the four events and the Wingers beat Simley on the road 120.925-113.175.

"We were pleased with the win, but it wasn't our best meet," Red Wing coach Beth Mayer said, adding that her team needs more repetitions in order to perform to the level in which they are capable.

Furlong took first in the vault (8.7), uneven bars (7.5), floor exercise (8.3) and all-around competition (32.05).

Furlong, who took second in the balance beam, did not record a season-best score in the floor exercise, "Which is kind of funny because floor is her best event," Mayer said.

Kassidy Coplan also had a solid performance overall. She took first in the balance beam (8.225) and second in the vault (8.25), uneven bars (7.2) and all-around (31.225). Coplan earned a 7.55 in the floor exercise and took third.

"The win feels great, but we have lots of work ahead of us," Mayer said. "The girls know that they are capable of much more."

Red Wing is back in action Thursday when it plays host to River Falls.
