Red Wing's team score on the balance beam improved by three points from its last meet and it added a point in the floor exercise, but the Wingers still lost to Farmington 136.675-124.1245.

"Progress is slow," Red Wing coach Beth Mayer said. "We had many season bests for the girls."

All the Red Wing gymnasts posted season best scores in the floor exercise.

Maria Furlong, an eighth grader, placed third in the floor exercise (8.8) and tied for second on the vault (8.5).

Teammate Kassidy Coplan came in third in the all-around competition (32.125). The freshman also took third on the balance beam (8.6).

Coplan was one of many Wingers who had a strong showing on the beam, according to coach Beth Mayer.

"(The girls) will definitely be challenging each other for varsity spots on the beam," she said.

Red Wing, which travels Tuesday to Simley, didn't have a top-five finisher on the uneven bars.
