Red Wing beat Hudson 120.575-119.525 at home Tuesday behind a strong performance from Kassidy Coplan.
Coplan, a freshman, was Red Wing's top performer on two events, placing second on both the uneven bars (7.625) and balance beam (8.125). She also took second in the all-around competition with a score of 31.825.
Coplan came in second on the vault (8.25) and third in the floor exercise (7.725).
"She has been working really strong in practice," Red Wing coach Beth Mayer said. "She does exactly what we ask her to do. ... She's very open to corrective comments and it's paying off for her. She shows confidence in her performances."
Red Wing eighth-grader Maria Furlong won both the vault (8.5) and the floor exercise (8.65). Furlong also tied for third on the uneven bars.
Freshman Carlie Sandstrom picked up a pair of top-five finishes for the Wingers. She placed fifth on both the uneven bars (7.05) and the balance beam (6.65).
The Wingers were without eighth-grader Irina Anderson on Tuesday and they likely won't have her back in the lineup until after Christmas, according to Mayer. She is being held out to allow foot injuries to heal.
"We're being very cautious on trying to make sure we don't make it worse," Mayer said.
Red Wing has another home meet Thursday when it plays host to Farmington.
